CTG Performance Standards - 1/22/2022
So Im using my first Blog post to share a project I’ve been up to…Im not a Blogger, or an IT guy, so all this additional website stuff is new to me- so bare with me. Ill try to update weekly!
In the last weeks, my goal was to come up with a free, printable, standards target to be shot for score. My intention was a challenging target for public use, yes…but I wanted a target I could use to have people “Test In’ to my higher level classes without having to take a Basic course prior to attending. All the standards Ive come across are great, and I use them ALL the time, but I wanted to inject a specific element I focus on- competition and performance standards.
In my opinion, the mastery of Competition shooting aids in your ability to process information while shooting and makes you a more valuable shooter. Understanding Shot Calling, Target Transitions, and When/How to go fast…they make you a more efficient shooter in any field.
So Id like to introduce the CTG Performance Standard Drill. The Setup and Execution of the drill is all included right on the print out, but Id Like to go over some points of WHY I made it. First, All the Boxes in the drill are proportionally sized too a USPSA A-Zone. So the top row is simulating shooting Alphas from 10-18yds, which are common USPSA distances. The reload is NOT stationary, as they rarely should ever be. And the Closer portion forces the shooter to focus on trigger control for the Small logo shot, and SOLID manipulation and trigger for the single handed portion. At only 20 rounds, 5 yards, and 10-15 seconds….this is an Ultra High Value, Low Round Count drill you can use to focus on progress in your Pistol skills. Printed on a Standard 8.5x11” paper, and if you can’t move up for the 2nd half of the drill- just shoot the entire drill stationary at 4yds.
If you shoot it, post your score! Tag me on the various socials, and Ill be running a Giveaway for those who complete it with proof!
