CTG Podcast Ep002 - 2024 Gear Breakdown!

If you know me, you know Im not much of a “Gear Guy”.

The problem is….you need gear. Quality Gear. Reliable Gear. Gear that Lasts. I simply go no further than that.

My whole attitude on gear is “Form Follows Function” and nothing more. Im constantly looking for the simplest answer to the problem at hand, and if the gun ALWAYS go bang, I can focus more on myself.

At a young age I was also exposed to Glock, so a double-whammy there leads me to never desiring to pick up another pistol. Again, Im a form follows function guy, with a pretty “redneck” view on aesthetics…Glock wins. It always works, in all conditions, if I do my Job. SO I stuck with it.

I was born and raised in NJ so my roots and loyalty means you’ll always find me with Modern Materiel rifles in hand. Been rocking their long guns since 2015 without issue. I literally won’t buy another brand- I either build myself of buy MM.

As mentioned, Im all about consistency and quality with gear, so when I found Ghost Holsters for my belt gear in 2016 I never changed it. The right price, design, quality, and customer service was great. Never needed to change them. Ive shot a few Nationals and Dozens of Major Matches over the years with Ghost rigs. Well last year Im proud to say Im on the Ghost Pro Team! And have THE BEST updated rig on my hips.

So here is the TL;DR version of “What does Sam Shoot”:

My main competition Glock is a G45, with backup G17s and G34s. From the top down the only changes are a Vortex Dot (or if Im being Gun-Amish, Dawson fiber optics), HandleIt stick on grips, and a Timney Alpha Trigger.

Where doest he gun live when i’m not shooting it? Ghost Holster Hydra-P Rig. Breakdown in the video.

My PCC is a mostly stock Modern materiel Ace-9 with a Timney PCC trigger, topped with Vortex Sparc Solar.

My 2/3gun rifle is a stock 14” Modern Materiel Ace, topped with Vortex Razor 1-10 and a canted Razor red dot.
